Questions and Answers

What is galvanization?

Galvanization is protection process against corrosion and is carried out by immersion in a tank.

What is the difference between hot and cold galvanization?

There are two types of galvanization:

Electrolytic: the procedure involves a continuous passage of electric current through a zinc-saline solution, where an anode and a cathode are immersed (object to be galvanized which acts as a conductor). The material at the end of treatment remains covered by several zinc micrometres.

  • Advantages: the surface is treated with few deposits and no deformation of the materials occurs even if not very thick.
  • Disadvantages: it is not recommended for outdoor materials due to minimum corrosion resistance.

Hot galvanization: the procedure takes place by immersion in a tank of molten zinc at a temperature of about 450.

  • Advantages: total coverage of the material takes place both internally and externally, in addition to ensuring high resistance to corrosion, it is in fact recommended for outdoor materials.
  • Disadvantages: the material on the surface can present many impurities to the eye and to the touch.

How are the materials painted?

The painting process on our products, when required, is carried out by using thermosetting powders and follows a path of bathing in tanks (phosphating) to eliminate any grease or dirt residues. The material is then dried and electrically charged so that it attracts the coloured powders and then is immediately put in the kiln to bake the paint.

What is Corten?

Corten is a special steel that was patented in 1933 as a low-alloy, high-strength, self-passivating, patinable defined steel.

After about 18-36 months, the material reaches its self-oxidation process: it shows a reddish-brown patina that protects the material itself from atmospheric agents.

It does not require painting or other treatments.

Why is it considered an innovative material?

Today, Corten is considered an innovative material for its natural appearance that does not require further treatments that are harmful to the environment.

Why must I choose a Corten product?

Corten should be chosen when there is the need for a material that requires no protection against atmospheric agents, when installed outside.

What kind of maintenance does a Corten product require?

Corten is made of slabs or tubulars in various sizes and thicknesses.

It does not need any kind of finish and maintenance, because it protects itself with the natural oxidation that is created on the surface from any atmospheric agent and is long lasting.

How many people are needed to install a modular fence?

Modular fences are very easy to install. They can be assembled even by a single person. However, it is always necessary to comply with the conditions provided by the applicable regulations and legislation.

What do i need to start the installation?

The tools required for the installation of modular fences are usually those commonly used for any do-it-yourself operation. You will need a drill with a concrete drill bit, hammer, screwdriver, tape measure, pencil, and work gloves. However, it is always necessary to comply with the conditions provided by the applicable regulations and legislation.
